Spring is in full swing

Spring Break was a wild time

The Wild Way just wrapped up our action-packed, week-long Spring Break Camp. Spring break is a great opportunity to sample a little bit of everything that the Roanoke Valley outdoors has to offer, and we took full advantage. We went hiking at Stiles Falls and the Cascades, caving in Covington with Roanoke City Parks & Recreation, practiced fire-building and big-swinging at Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing, did some salamander hunting at Apple Ridge Farm, admired some adorable animals with Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center, and honed our archery and climbing skills at The Peaks Retreat & Adventure Center.

The theme for this week was LEADERSHIP. While tackling these incredible adventures, these girls were building resilience through confidence-building activities and exercises that encouraged them to reflect on their abilities as leaders, how to take healthy risks, and how to frame failure as a growth opportunity. Whether you lead by being team captain, serving as a positive role model, or standing up for a classmate who is being bullied, everyone can be a leader.

Great work leading, ladies!

Calling all artists!

Love to draw, paint, or just create in general? We still have a few more slots open for our Nature-Based Illustration Workshop at Art on 1st in downtown Roanoke on Thursday, April 3rd.

Girls of ALL skill levels are welcome. Led by our Wild Wayfarer SoJo Haire, we will learn the basics of working with different art mediums (colored pencil, paint, digital art, and more) and then create our own mini masterpieces.

Jiu-Jitsu & Self-Defense

We want to give a big thank to Summit Jiu-Jitsu Academy for hosting our recent self-defense course. These girls, most of whom were beginners to the marital arts, took to grappling quickly and certainly didn't hold back! We loved to see them give it their all, and they also practiced incredible sportsmanship. We all walked out feeling empowered and amazed by what our bodies can do.
