Horsin' around for the holidays
Our holiday horseback riding event is one of our most beloved Wild Way traditions. We visited Spring Valley Farm with a group of 16 enthusiastic young ladies. We had several experienced riders, but most girls were new to horseback riding. We discussed how important it is to exude confidence when directing their horses, and we were impressed with each girls' ability to remain calm under pressure. We even had a few first-timers trotting! There is something very empowering about forging a bond with these graceful animals, and it was the perfect way to wrap up 2024.

Building strong bodies and strong minds
The Wild Way is teaming up with Community Unify Roanoke for an "Intro to Strength Training" class on Saturday, January 18th from 10:30am to 12pm. Strength training is a great way to build a healthy body AND mind, and we want girls to feel comfortable and empowered in the weight room. This workshop will be based around fun games that incorporate body weight exercises, dumbbells, kettlebells, and even the barbell. We're going to show you how much fun the gym can be!

First Aid Training for Girls
Whether she is hiking, playing sports, or even babysitting, knowledge of basic first aid is a powerful tool for any young woman. Join The Wild Way for an after-school training through Roanoke CPR on Thursday, February 6th from 5pm to 7pm for girls ages 11 to 14. There are limited spots available, so please sign-up soon!

Keep an eye out for The Wild Way's feature in Volume 2 of The Scout Guide (TSG) Roanoke, which will be released in August 2025. We are so excited for this opportunity to spread awareness of our program through the local printed TSG publication and through the nationwide TSG registry.
