A night to celebrate

$14,392 Raised!

Thank you to those who came out to The Wild Way's 2025 Annual Dinner and Fundraiser at Fortunato. With your help, we raised $14,392 to get even more girls outside in 2025 - an all-time fundraiser record for us!

Evening highlights included speeches from two of our participants about their experience in the program and a series of videos featuring our summer Paddlesports Camps, which were made possible by the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia and Caileigh Bravo of Boyd Pearman Photography. Some people also took home auction items generously donated by local businesses like Skin Firm Aesthetics, Olde Salem Brewing Co, Runabout Sports, Your Outdoor Classroom, The Slap Shop, Uttara Yoga, Roanoke Mountain AdventuresRiver Rock, Taubman Museum of Art, Club Pilates Roanoke, and The Albemarle House.

And a HUGE thank you to raffle winner Laura Godfrey, who kindly donated her winnings back to The Wild Way!

Thank you for your support!

Spring Break Camp 2025!

The Wild Way's popular Spring Break Camp is back! From Monday, March 24th to Friday, March 28th, we will spend the week hiking, caving, zip-lining, climbing, and adventuring all over the Roanoke Valley. Destinations include Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing, The Peaks, and Apple Ridge Farm.

This camp aligns with both Roanoke City and Roanoke County/Salem school systems' spring break calendars.

We only have a few spots left, so please sign-up soon.

Nature-Based Illustration

Building on our recent Nature-Based Creative Writing Workshop, The Wild Way is holding a Nature-Based Illustration Workshop at Art on 1st in downtown Roanoke.

Girls of ALL skill levels are welcome. We will learn the basics of working with different art mediums (colored pencil, paint, digital art, and more) and then create our own mini masterpieces.

Caves, first aid, and poetry

What do these three totally different things have in common?

All three were the focus of our February adventures! We spent a day exploring a wild cave with Roanoke City Parks & Recreation, where we army crawled through tight spaces, met some adorable bats, and bathed in sweet mud. The following week, a group of girls worked with Roanoke CPR to get their Basic First Aid Certifications. And finally, we collaborated with local author Cyndy Unwin to capture some of our favorite moments in nature through poetry and memoir. Because sometimes writing a poem can take just as much bravery as crawling through a cave.
