This Paddlesports Camp (June 16-20) is specifically for girls from the West End Center for Youth.
If your girl is NOT at the WEC and she’d like to participate, please see our other Paddlesports Camps which are available from June 30-July 4 and August 4-August 8.
We are partnering with American Canoe Association-certified instructor Beth Wiegandt of Camp Bethel/Your Outdoor Classroom to offer a week-long, summer paddlesports day camp. This camp enrolls girls ages 9 to 14.
Girls will have the opportunity explore several sports, including kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding (SUPing) on the James River in Botetourt County. Girls will learn how to prep and pack their boats, properly paddle each type of watercraft, read the river and navigate small rapids, and learn more about river flora and fauna. This camp is FUN, full of adventure, and one of our most popular events!
This camp includes four (4) days of activities on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. (The West End Center will be closed on Thursday, June 19th in celebration of Juneteenth, so there will be no Paddlesports Camp on that day.)
TRANSPORTATION: Transportation WILL be provided to the river each day from the West End Center. We will pick-up the girls from the West End Center at approximately 9am and drop them back off by 3pm each day.
PAYMENT: The Wild Way’s activities are offered on a sliding scale fee. After filling out the application below, you will be directed to a site where you can make your preferred contribution amount. Our services are FREE for families in need. Please don’t hesitate to request a fee waiver.
