Nature-Based Creative Writing: Saturday, February 8th (click here to enroll)

  • Williamson Branch Library 3837 Williamson Road Roanoke, VA, 24012 United States (map)

Calling all girls with a love for creativity and the outdoors! Join us for a Nature-Based Writing Class, where nature becomes your muse and your imagination runs wild.

We are offering two-hour writing workshop for girls ages 9 to 14 to explore storytelling and poetry under the guidance of local author Cyndy Unwin. We will discuss different writing styles and do some exercises to spark inspiration and excitement, and then the girls create their own nature-inspired short story or poem.

Our hope is to follow this class up with a Nature-Based Illustration Class, so we can then compile these writings into a keepsake Wild Way Nature Book for each participant.

This class is very casual and no writing experience is required - only a love for nature and the desire to express it though words!

TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is NOT provided to this event. Please drop your child off at Williamson Branch Library at 10am and return for pick-up at 12pm. If transportation is a barrier to participation, please let us know and we will try to find a solution.

PAYMENT: The Wild Way’s activities are offered on a sliding scale fee. After filling out the application below, you will be directed to a site where you can make your preferred contribution amount. Our services are FREE to families in need. Please don’t hesitate to request a fee waiver.
